The Arnold Schwarzenegger Workout: Grow So Much Your Mom Won’t Recognize You by Shane Halaska
The Arnold Schwarzenegger workout is simple. It’s about growing massive amounts of muscle in the most effective and efficient way possible. However, it’s not just about the exercise program. Arnold knew that as much of bodybuilding is in the mind and planning as it was in the workout itself.
Planning and knowing what to do before you begin is really half the battle. Although there is something to be said for simply beginning, you’ll be much more successful when you have a plan in place than if you randomly pick up weights and start lifting.
THE PLAN:
1. SET A GOAL: Write down what it is you want to accomplish with your bodybuilding training. Do you want to get bigger, stronger and faster for sports? Do you want to just get as big and strong as possible? Do you have bodybuilding competition aspirations? Or do you want to simply be fitter? Setting a goal is the first place to start and gives your training direction.
2. USE A GREAT WORKOUT: Following the Arnold Schwarzenegger Workout is a great place to start here. If you are just beginning, you definitely won’t want to start with Arnolds advanced workouts, but a basic bodybuilding workout with lots of compound exercises will put muscle on your frame like nobody’s business.
3. TRACK YOUR PROGRESS: Keep a training journal and keep track of all your workouts and your diet. Keep track of the weight used, sets, reps, how you felt. The training journal is also a great place to keep track of your body measurements. This is a great motivational tool that you can visually see yourself getting better and better.
Arnold was the best bodybuilder of all time for many reasons. He had confidence like nobody else, he had a drive and desire that rivaled no one, and he was willing to work as hard as it took to get where he wanted to be. Much of his mental toughness came from bodybuilding. If you follow an Arnold Schwarzenegger workout or any bodybuilding workout for that matter, you’ll gain that same mental toughness that Arnold did. The thing is, are you you willing to do what it takes, and what will you do with your new found inner strength?
There you have it, a plan that will get you on your way to great success in bodybuilding. Having a plan isn’t just good for bodybuilding, but in life it is all important. I’m reminded of the quote, “Fail to plan, plan to fail.” Follow this plan or use this as a much grander plan for yourself and you’ll plan for success.
